"Kalina" means rose, and Kalina is truly a great gem.  Kalina is out of the straight Russian mare, HK Muscia, who is a true beauty herself.  CR Arabians purchased the breeding to Desert Heat VF+ primarily because he was a Minnesota Medallion Stallion and the resulting foal could be shown in the Auction class at the Minnesota Fall Festival.  We have always admired the Varian breeding as Sheila has produced some really good horses.  We have outcrossed to Varian breeding a few times now and it works really well on the Russian mares.  We also felt the Gamaar that is found in Desert Heat+ was really a sleeper and didn't really show up in Desert Heat.  We hit the jackpot.  Muscia was able to bring out the beauty of Gamaar and still keep the Russian structure.
